Photoshop

Within Class we all part took in a Photoshop tutorials, just to give us a reminder on some of the things that we have done in Photoshop in the past, before we start our assignment. This allow use to redeem our skills and be able to put them into our assignments.

Each of these images shown above, shows the different skills that I have used in Photoshop, although my skills are limited these will help me regain/build up new skills for my assignment. these are known as skills build, in each class we were given tasks to complete so that it would help us with our assignments once we got to them.

As you can see in each of the images above the different skills that means that when going to the assignment I will already have produced different skills so I can work on them. This has helped my recap anything I new about Photoshop and be able to use it in my Assignments.

What is Communication?

Communication Design is a way of communicating visually, such as promoting a business in a poster form or even an advertisement (video). When promoting something you are using a persuasive technique. You need to make sure that you have a purpose for you Communication Design.

There are many different ways in which you can promote something e.g. PowerPoint, posters, bill boards, videos.

Colour Theory

Colour Theory The colour theory was introduced in the 18th Century. The colour theory is how we use colours within anything that we are creating; this may be a mixture of different colours (a specific colour combination). There are a lot of different types of colour mixtures such as the colour wheel, primary and secondary colours and finally tertiary colours. Without colours in are everyday life everything would be very plain and it would be hard to identify some things. If we were to look at a black and white poster it wouldn’t stand out as much as a coloured poster. Colours are needed in are everyday life, imagine everything was black and white it would be really hard to define one thing from another and you wouldn’t be drawn to something in a supermarket because everything will look the same. Yes there is times when black and white are needed to allow something to be more effective.

RGB The RGB Colour model is made up of Red, Green and blue colours which are added together in different ways to reproduces an array of different colours. The name of this model is simply the first letter of each colour which is used in the model. When mixing these colours together you will be able to make all the other colours in the rainbow this is what is so amazing about RGB, there is some many different colours out there and so many different shades of colours. This is mainly used in computers, for programming etc.

CYMK The CMYK colour model is made up of 4 different colours. This is used when printing and also used when trying to describe the process of printing. The colour’s that are used in this model is Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. These would be known as hard copy colours, they are not on a digital screen and you are able to make colours from these.

Graphic Design Communication

Functions of graphic design for communication
The functions of a graphic designing is all in the information that it betrays to the audience, and you will try and persuade them to either go to the event, show your emotion or whatever the poster is about, you’re aim is to make the audience what to be involved. The influences of these functions (Information, Persuasion, meaning and layout) will either have a good impact on the target audience and make then want to be involved in what you are prompting, it is all in these key functions without these you won’t have a structure to the poster and what you are trying to convey.

Information
The information that you may convey may include a visual communication like I stated before with a poster, or even road signs etc. you need to add in information so that the audience no what you’re talking about, when, where, who and why. Everything you need to convey might have images to show emotional or what the people are looking for, but you may also need information like when the product is going to be released etc. For my Brand the information written will help them understand the brand, understand what it is for and how it can impact other people.
Persuasion
Persuasion is definitely a key function, you want people to want the product. With persuasion you can help people change their mind. They may have went into that saying that they weren’t going to buy the product but from the way it has been displayed and the persuasion used in a poster or within the person promoting it, you have changed your mind and then more people are buying this product. The way in which I will use Persuasion for my product is bright colour for the learning aspect of things, so that it a eye attaching to children and also to the adults and teacher of those children so they see that this is a child friendly brand and they this will help them.

Meaning and Layouts
You want the layout of everything you make for you business to be simple but also unique, it needs to stand out. Your layout can show who your target audience is, there will always have to be meaning to your layout it. For example if it is for a business such as an IT business then the structure is bold and simple for the clients, although for child associated then bright colours and a lot happening.

Of course when it comes to having a poster you will always need a layout and there will be a meaning for why you have chosen this layout. The layout is there so that you can add in all that you need and still make it appealing for the audience, you are trying to promote something and you need a new poster. There our a lot of different techniques that you can use on the internet and researching them is great because it helps give you an incite to what you want to do and how you want your poster to appear.

 Typography

Evolution of Typography Typography is a type of art and technique used for poster and different aspects of branding. It is simple arrange of different written language legible and readable which is all about how the wording is conveyed to the audience. In images that use a typography style there is minimal imagery it is mainly words, these words a plotted onto a page in any which way but in a way that you will be able to read them, which a possibly of lines or one image. This style is not only used in poster and brand aspects of things but also is used in home designs, for example a wall sticker, a stamp or even used for a book stopper. It is amazing how this is used and how it can be so inspiring for some people.

Typography as an image

The typography as an image is very simple, it is a usage of word in an image form/shape. This brings across a lot of definition, it is bold and also very straight forward. The images of the right show you have the message can be portrayed across, although the good thing about this is that you can firstly make up your own mind on what they are about and then actually read the small print that the shape is made up of.

Creative word play There is so much creative word play used in Typography, a lot of people don’t like reading but when it is put across like this most people don’t mind, sometimes it is a puzzle to try and find out what it actually is about, some of the words my be middle up and you have to put them in some sort of order in your head. It gets the mind going and gets people thinking about what they are reading rather than just scanning their eyes over it.
